Barcelona Districts by artist Karlijn Surminski

Opening of the exhibition ´Barcelona Districts´ by Dutch artist Karlijn Surminski in Roots & Rolls on Sunday 23 October 2022, from 17h – 19h.

In 2010, Karlijn started this colourful serie, not knowing that it would take her 10 years to finish it. When she arrived in 2007 in Barcelona she wanted to understand her new habitat and for that she walked around every district, looking at all the highlights, but also the backgrounds. It’s an “hommage” to Barcelona, to the colours, the stories, the habitants, the light, the forms, the structures and the versatility of this city where she’s lost her heart.

Karlijn ha chosen not to expose in a Barcelona contemporary art museum, but in one of Barcelona’s most trendy vegan restaurants Roots & Rolls te be able to combine the ´Barcelona Districts´ with a gastronomic experience.
